This years most exciting Halloween adventure will kick off in Southwark on Monday 27 October when Listen softly London is taken over by mythical creatures as Gary from Leeds brings his critically acclaimed show, Yeti, to the London stage after its successful run at the Edinburgh festival.
The show will take place on Monday 27 October at The Crown in Southwark, with the event starting promptly at 7.30pm. Gary from Leeds will be joined on the evening by storyteller Ceri-May, and editor of literary magazine Litro, Dan Coxon, as well as special guest readers Reece Choules and Iain Robinson from the pages of Litro.
Here’s what the world has said about Yeti:
“Truly funny, imaginative and well-delivered material…The blurring between storyteller-style stand-up and comic (but never crass) poetry is hugely entertaining, and for me was an entirely new, very welcome subset of spoken word.” – Poetry Monthly
“A charmingly quirky and intimate performance.” – National Theatre Wales blog
“Eccentrically moving…Hilarious…An oddly charismatic poet with some wonderfully bizarre ideas.” – Broadway Baby
“A fun, absurdist piece of spoken-word, Yeti delivers a humorous exposé on life as an antisocial mythological being.” – Fringebiscuit
Listen Softly London curator Dominic Stevenson said: “Gary from Leeds is an artist who is constantly evolving and upping his game. His show was so well received at Edinburgh that it’s a delight to have him come down and perform it for a London audience.
“We’re also thrilled to have Ceri, Dan and writers from Litro coming down and sharing their stories. Litro has a reputation for publishing and supporting work of the highest quality, so they really shouldn’t be missed.”
Tickets are £4 in advance, or £6 on the door and anyone who comes down dressed as a mythical creature will receive a prize!
