Listen Softly London is delighted to announce that two Edinburgh shows will be previewing at our next night on Monday 27 July.
Hannah Chutzpah is a performance poet, writer, activist and a smartass who has been described as ‘fine’ by three therapists, as ‘of good character’ by a high court judge, and as a ‘potential maggot-thrower’ by the Metropolitan police. Hannah’s poetry is funny, feminist and often heartfelt. On a number of occasions it has made people cry. Apparently in a good way.
ASKING NICELY is a one-woman poetry show about the power dynamics of permission and politeness – with rhymes and reasons. Hannah Chutzpah looks at consent, kicking ass and when asking nicely turns nasty. Contains: feminism, funnies, psychology, sociology, wit and wordplay.
Back after a five-star reviewed run last year, this lyrical lecture is “both humorous and humane … Chutzpah’s confidence and determination are inspiring: this is a gorgeous, life-affirming, empowering show. I left at least three inches taller” – ***** Three Weeks
Sara Hirsch was the 2013/14 UK Slam Champion, recently came third in the World Slam Championships in Paris and was a semi finalist in the European Slam Championships 2014. She was also awarded the Farrago award for Best Slam Performance 2013 and was voted runner up in the Hammer and Tongue National Slam Finals last year.
HOW WAS IT FOR YOU? is a poetically powerful unravelling of what it is to be single for the first time since being a teenager.
This one hour solo show is a labour of love and lust from performance poet and former UK Slam Champion Sara Hirsch. With a fusion of striking spoken word, honest storytelling and her trademark wit this is spoken word meets theatre at its most dynamic.
Combining the autobiographical accounts of a new found singleton with a slice of flirtatious fiction, this exploration into the world of dating after the breakdown of that one relationship you cannot forget is both awkwardly hilarious and potently poignant in equal measure.
Sara uses rhyme, reason and a little of the ridiculous to ask some of life’s biggest questions;
– How do you move on from your first love?
– What is it like to be single after five years?
– And, most importantly….what on earth is flirting?
You can get your tickets for this very special event here. They’re free, but there will be a bucket collection for performers.
